Lotus has officially revealed the plug-in hybrid version of its flagship Eletre SUV—called the ‘Lotus For Me’ in China. This marks a major shift for the brand, coming just a year after Lotus stepped back from its earlier promise to offer an EV-only portfolio by 2028. The Lotus Eletre PHEV will be showcased publicly in January 2026, with a global market launch scheduled for Q1 2026.

The new Eletre PHEV combines a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 70kWh battery pack, powering electric motors on both the front and rear axles. This hybrid setup produces a massive 952hp, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 3.3 seconds.

Fast charging

Thanks to its high-capacity battery, the Eletre PHEV can charge from 30% to 80% in just 8 minutes using a DC fast charger. The model also delivers a CLTC-rated 420km electric-only range, making it one of the most capable PHEVs in its class.

Exterior: Subtle Changes from the EV Model

While the Eletre PHEV retains the bold silhouette of the all-electric Eletre, Lotus has given it a few distinguishing elements:

• A more open, redesigned front grille
• New alloy wheel designs
• ‘For Me’ model-specific badging
• Carbonfibre-style trim on the D-pillars

These updates help differentiate the hybrid variant from its EV counterpart without altering the SUV’s overall design language.

Interior: Mostly Identical to the EV Eletre

Official interior images of the PHEV are not yet available, but Lotus is expected to maintain the same premium cabin layout as the electric version. Features likely include:
