Mahindra has officially unveiled the Vision X concept SUV at its Freedom NU event, held in celebration of Independence Day. The Vision X, along with the Vision T and Vision SXT (a new take on the Vision T), showcases Mahindra’s evolving design direction and future lineup based on the all-new NU IQ platform.
Mahindra Vision X: A Premium Compact Crossover in the Making?

The Mahindra Vision X concept stands out as a near-production-ready compact SUV that could potentially sit alongside or slightly above the XUV 3XO in the brand’s portfolio. With its sporty design, sloping roofline, and coupe-like rear, it appears to be targeted at the premium compact SUV segment, likely rivaling models like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
Although Mahindra has not revealed detailed technical specifications or launch timelines, the design and build quality hint that it may serve as a premium alternative to the XUV 3XO, possibly under the XUV or XEV sub-brand.

Key Design Highlights of the Vision X
- Bold Front Fascia: The Twin Peaks logo dominates the front, suggesting its inclusion in the XUV family, though the sleek, shut-off grille hints at electric ambitions – possibly under the XEV lineup.
- LED Lighting: Slim LED light bars at both ends and a modern bumper layout reflect design cues from the Mahindra XEV 9e.
- Sporty Exterior: Squared-off wheel arches with black cladding, large dual-tone aero-style alloy wheels, and flush door handles give it a futuristic and muscular stance.
- Side Profile: The sculpted doors, silver step plates, and sharp creases exude a sportier, more premium appearance compared to current compact SUVs.

NU IQ Platform: Modular & Electric-Ready
All the showcased concepts, including the Vision X, are underpinned by Mahindra’s new NU IQ platform. This modular and flexible platform supports a variety of powertrains – including internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrids, and fully electric vehicles (EVs).
Production models based on the Vision X and its siblings are expected to begin rolling out between 2027 and 2028.
Conclusion: The Mahindra Vision X concept is a strong indicator of what the brand’s next-generation compact SUV could look like. With premium styling, a flexible EV-ready platform, and segment-rivalling features, it positions Mahindra as a serious player in the evolving compact crossover space.
