As per the new GST rules, tax rates on small and mid-size cars have been revised:
- Petrol & Petrol-Hybrid cars (engine ≤ 1200cc, length ≤ 4m): 18% GST
- CNG & LPG cars (engine ≤ 1200cc, length ≤ 4m): 18% GST
- Diesel & Hybrid cars (engine ≤ 1500cc, length ≤ 4m): Reduced from 28% to 18%
For mid-size & premium SUVs like Creta, the total tax earlier was 50%, which has now been reduced to 40%. This change brings an average saving of up to ₹70,000 per variant.
