The iPhone 17e is expected to debut in the first half of next year, and a new leak from Korea sheds more light on Apple’s upcoming budget-friendly iPhone. According to the latest report, the device will feature an OLED display similar to the iPhone 15, while also bringing a few notable design upgrades.

Apple’s display partners — BOE, Samsung Display, and LG Display — are reportedly gearing up to ship around 8 million OLED panels for the iPhone 17e in the first half of 2026. This aligns with earlier rumours hinting at slimmer bezels and the introduction of the Dynamic Island on the “e” series.

iPhone 17e Could Feature Slimmer Bezels and Dynamic Island

According to The Elec (Korea), BOE has been chosen as the primary OLED supplier for the iPhone 17e. The device is said to reuse the LTPS OLED panel from the iPhone 16e but with slightly thinner display borders, giving the phone a refreshed look and possibly reducing overall dimensions.

Much like the iPhone 16e, the iPhone 17e is expected to feature a 6.1-inch display, similar to the panel used on the iPhone 14. While the display is likely to stay at 60Hz, design changes may give it a more modern appearance.

The report also suggests Apple plans to use LTPO OLED panels for the standard iPhone 17 models, though the budget “e” variant will stick to LTPS.

Dynamic Island Expected to Replace the Notch

Previous leaks indicate that the iPhone 17e will ditch the notch in favour of the Dynamic Island, aligning it with the design language of the iPhone 16 lineup and the upcoming iPhone 17 series. This marks a major design shift for Apple’s more affordable iPhone segment.

Expected Specifications of iPhone 17e

  • Display: 6.1-inch OLED, 60Hz
  • Design: Thinner bezels, Dynamic Island
  • Chipset: A19 chip (with fewer GPU cores than standard iPhone 17 models)
  • Rear Camera: 48-megapixel
  • Front Camera: 12-megapixel
  • Expected Price: Around CNY 4,499 (approx. ₹57,000)
  • Launch Timeline: Early to mid-2026

The iPhone 17e is expected to continue Apple’s strategy of offering a lightweight, performance-focused, and more affordable iPhone alternative while adopting some flagship design elements.
