VinFast VF3 Electric Micro-SUV: There’s a reason the saying “good things come in small packages” exists — and VinFast seems to believe it wholeheartedly. The Vietnamese EV maker’s latest compact electric SUV, the VinFast VF3, is the kind of urban-focused micro-SUV that could find strong traction in India. With the MG Comet currently enjoying an almost monopoly in the ultra-compact EV space, the arrival of the VF3 could shake things up significantly.

A Compact EV Designed for City Life

The VinFast VF3 is intentionally small, sharply styled, and built for dense urban environments. It doesn’t aim to be a highway cruiser; instead, it prioritizes nimble handling, easy parking, and low running costs. For buyers who want an EV purely for city commuting, the VF3 feels like the ideal companion.

The VF3 is offered in 10 colour options, including the standout shade called Iris Berry.

Powertrain, Battery & Charging

Under the minimalist bodywork, the VF3 packs a rear-mounted electric motor producing about 40 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. Power comes from an 18.64 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a claimed 215 km range (NEDC)—adequate for daily commutes and occasional short weekend drives.

Key performance highlights:

  • Fast charging: 10% to 70% in ~36 minutes on compatible chargers
  • Top speed: 100 kmph
  • Driving modes: Eco and Normal

This makes the VF3 a practical, efficient and easy-to-run urban EV.

Dimensions & Space: Small but Smartly Packaged

The VinFast VF3 is truly compact:

  • Length: 3,190 mm
  • Width: 1,679 mm
  • Height: 1,652 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,075 mm
  • Kerb weight: 857 kg
  • Ground clearance: 175 mm

Boot space is limited at 36 litres with all seats up, but folding the second row expands it to a useful 285 litres—enough for grocery runs or a weekend getaway.

Suspension, Brakes & Wheels

VinFast has equipped the VF3 with a simple but durable mechanical setup:

  • Front: Independent MacPherson strut
  • Rear: Rigid axle with Panhard rod
  • Brakes: Front discs + rear drum
  • Tyre inflator kit (no spare wheel)
  • Steel wheels with hubcaps (standard)

This configuration is tried-and-tested for Indian-like road conditions.

Interior & Features

The interior is basic yet functional, with a modern, minimalistic layout.

Key features include:

  • 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • USB-C charging port
  • Ample storage compartments
  • Electronic parking brake
  • 4-way adjustable front seats
  • Manual day/night IRVM

Safety essentials:

  • ABS, EBD
  • Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Hill-start Assist (HSA)
  • Rearview camera + parking sensors

However, the VF3 gets only one airbag, which may be a concern for Indian buyers.

Should VinFast Bring the VF3 to India?

7

Absolutely. If VinFast can price the VF3 on par with or below the MG Comet, it would instantly become one of the most compelling micro-EVs in the Indian market. It offers better practicality, SUV-like stance, more usable boot space, and superior ground clearance—making it a more rounded product overall.

With India’s small EV segment expected to grow rapidly, the VF3 could be the perfect second or third household vehicle. While VinFast is set to introduce the Limo Green next, many are hoping the VF3 makes its India debut sooner rather than later.
